HOTEL GAVILAN LODGE - SARAPIQUI - COSTA RICA

 

Hotel Gavilán Río Sarapiquí is not only a refuge of peace, but also exciting adventure.  Your experience here will go from a tranquil awakening with the birds’ songs, to an energizing trek in our 120 acres Private Reserve of true jungle. We have 20 rooms with a capacity for 65 people.  Each room has a private bathroom, hot water, ceiling fan, and a corridor overlooking the garden. Six are Superior Rooms. Our premises have been used very often for spiritual gatherings due to the peaceful and harmonious atmosphere. In our restaurant, and in general at the lodge, you’ll feel like at home, but surrounded by nature. From here, many birdwatchers have enjoyed the variety of birds that come to the feeder.

 

We have a commitment with the sustainabilityand environment-friendly practices.We are working enthusiastically to obtain our CST (Sustainability Certificate from ICT, Instituto Costarricense de Turismo.) 
We offer also trails with exotic vegetation, tropical fruit trees, and a refreshing jacuzzi with natural water coming from a deep well, and also a private dock for your boat tours. Bird watching, and  all the wide variety of activities in the beautiful Sarapiquí area like rafting, horseback riding, canopying, among others, will be at your disposal in the reception desk. Cocoa, Coffee, Pepper, Pineapple and Banana tours, are also available.

 

The Hotel Gavilán Río Sarapiquí, is located in the northern zone of Costa Rica. There are two main roads to get to the hotel: From San José, you can go by Braulio Carrillo National Park. You will need less than one hour and a half (65 Km.) to be in Gavilán Río Sarapiquí. A few Km. after Rainforest Aerial Tram, make aleft turn toward Río Frío, Horquetas, Puerto Viejo. 1Km. before Puerto Viejo town, before the Sarapiquí River bridge, you make a right turn to Hotel Gavilán Río Sarapiquí. (only 1 Km.) By the second road, you will need to arrive to Varablanca, San Miguel, La Virgen, Chilamate and to the entrance to Puerto Viejo Town. At this point, you have to turn to the right side and go for 1 Km. passing the Sarapiqui's bridge, and take the road in the left side, for 1 Km. to arrive to Hotel Gavilán Río Sarapiquí.

We specialize in boat tours, bird watching, and guided hikes and also all the wide variety of activities in the beautiful Sarapiquí area: Rafting, horseback riding, visits to Private Reserves, canopying, among others, will be at your disposal in the reception desk.Cocoa, Coffee, Pepper, Pineapple and Banana tours, are also available.

Gavilán Río Sarapiquí is also an excellent point to get to many other interesting places in the North Atlantic Region: Arenal Volcano, the Hot Springs in Fortuna, Poas Volcano, Aerial Tram, Braulio Carrillo National Park, San Juan River in Nicaraguan Border, and Tortuguero.
